My Burnout Journey
Today I’m getting a little vulnerable and sharing my personal story, in hopes that I can help someone else that’s going through it and feeling the same way that I was!
In 2019, I took a significant step in my career, becoming the global head of marketing for a large life science company. Leading a multiple 9-figure business was exhilarating, but the pandemic hit, and our business skyrocketed, revealing that we weren’t prepared. This period was one of the most challenging of my life, both inside and outside of work.
I realized I had developed some very unhealthy behaviors associated with my job. I leaned on the habits that had always brought me success — people-pleasing, saying yes to everyone and everything, perfectionism, and working long hours. These habits took over my life, and I lost all sense of who I was outside of work. My identity became my job. I couldn’t emotionally detach myself, and I was letting work rule my life — my thoughts, feelings, time, and overall well-being.
In hindsight, I believe that if I had received better coaching, training, and support at the start of my leadership journey, I would have been better equipped with the right mindset, behaviors, skills, and strategies to persevere through this challenging period.
This is exactly why I founded Strive to Thrive Coaching. To support high performers and leaders, and arm them with what they need before they really need it. Taking a proactive approach is much more effective than treating the problem reactively.
If any part of my story resonates with you, I’d love to talk. Let’s understand what’s holding you back and help you thrive in your job and in your life 🙌🏻
